It appears that active Gosu conversations are now taking place primarily on Discord.

The ||#introduce yourself|| tab is a nice place to get started there. However, the Discord channel seems a bit congested. Threading is a theoretical possibility, but most replies seem to get posted as a new comment, not a response, with about 80% of conversations appearing in the ||#general|| tab. I am searching for more of a ||#help|| tab, where I can post my silly newb questions, so I don't muddy up the ||#general|| discussion.

I wonder if it might be helpful to spread things out a little bit, by adding one or two extra tabs in the Discord channel. This way, people could have an easier time going back and finding a given conversation, because it would be spread out a little more, instead of all being squished into one scrollable column.

With regard to backing up the old forum: My personal experience with website data loss tells me that it is actually the DATABASE, and not the website implementation, which needs to get backed up.

Best wishes to all!

Hey, for some reason I didn't see a notification about this thread. Thanks for the suggestions. I have actually reduced the number of channels in the past because I found it hard to remember which channel had which discussion. Honestly I just think Discord is pretty bad for anything but real-time chat, Slack is a bit better with its threads, and I've heard good things about Zulip, but nobody uses it.

Re: Backups, I think I'll probably back it up by just crawling the site and saving every HTML page, so in case everything breaks, it'll just be frozen in time forever.
