I just released gems with two rather experimental changes:
• All OSes: a very custom workaround for an incompatibility between SWIG and Ruby 1.8.6+ that could lead to the critical error "object allocation during garbage collection"
• Mac/Windows: support for MacPorts' Ruby 1.9.1 on OS X, and support for Ruby 1.9.1 from ruby-lang.org on Windows
If anyone dares to install these gems and has problems or not, a short reply with the operating system and Ruby version would be very appreciated! Thanks.
Well, I downloaded the new gem, and I seem to have been able to use install_name_tool to switch it from looking for macports ruby to looking for my installation. My script was a little wrong, though, I had to tweak it.
Anyway, it seems to work, though I haven't really tried anything other than require 'gosu' yet.
Edit: OH, for ref, OS X 10.4, PowerPC
Edit Edit: $ ruby-1.9 -v
ruby 1.9.1p0 (2009-01-30 revision 21907) [powerpc-darwin8.11.0]
Edit Edit Edit: Tested it with a fairly simple game, it seemed to work perfectly. I'll try a more complex one tonight.
Running Vista32 SP1. Gem is working like a charm with Ruby 1.8.6 and Ruby 1.9.1p0.
