[Solved] Resolution

Hello,

I'm new here, made a first test with gosu, and discovered that I can't create a window of 1280*720 nor a 1024*768 (my currently resolution). After more tests, the max resolution (16*9) that I can use is 960*540.
So there's my question : with the lastest Ruby and the lastest Gosu, is it possible to made programme in "Full HD" or "HD ready" resolution ( or : what is the max resolution supported by Gosu ?) ?

Maybe you should try with fullscreen mode? From what you wrote, it seems, that the window is wider than your resolution.

Pretty good idea.
The fact is that I couldn't creat a bigger window, but if I put a picture of 1080p resolution as the background, and ask for a 720p resolution window, the picture is reduced. So, the only explaination is that Gosu fit to my screen the generated window (who is 960*540).
I guess that if I had a better resolution myself, I could do enjoy it.

Yep. Gosu is still overdoing it by making the window much too small, but that's better than the other way around, because Windows won't let you access windows that are larger than the desktop.

I agree.
But 960*540 is 75% of 720p (HD-ready). It's not so bad at all, since my resolution is 1024*768.
In the end, what are the limit of Gosu (without considering my own imagination, of course) ?

Take into account when you ask Gosu to make a window 800 x 600, that's 800 x 600 inside the window. the chrome is extra on top of that. Also your task bar (or dock) will take up some screen real estate.

At a guess Gosu's limit is in line with the OS and OpenGL, so if you gfx card can handle a 30" display, I'd reckon Gosu could. Jlnr can answer that better.

Since the video in high resolution on my computer don't seem to worry about that detail, I've never think about it. Thanks !
